| Born Zcaronamberk, 22 Jan 1929, Czech composer. He studied with Bor Caronkovec at the Prague Academy (1948-54) and has taught at Prague University. His works, chiefly in vocal and chamber forms, show an involvement with Renaissance thought; they include Apologia Sokrates (1967), an oratorio reflecting his preoccupation with mortality, and Faust for organ (1982).
