| The Danish composer Horneman was an impulsive and energetic type who invested equal amounts of energy in composition and organization of musical life. He had a great impact on Carl Nielsen and can be seen as a kind of bridge between the romantic music of the nineteenth century and the incipient modernism of the twentieth.
