Marc'Antonio Ingegneri was an Italian composer and instrumentalist. He was an important madrigalist and composer of sacred music in the north Italian tradition. He taught Monteverdi, in whoose early music particulary his influence is strongly felt. |
Ingegneri's music reveals that he was a highly competent polyphnist: his sacred music catered admirably for the musical demands of the post-Tridentine church. He wrote sacred ("Libres missarum") and secular ("Libri de' Madrigali") music. |
