Ludwig Köchel

Ludwig Köchel was an Austrian botanist, mineralogist and music bibliographer. In music he was an amateur who acquired a great reputation which has been secured among posterity by his total devotion to W.A. Mozart. The great "Chronologisch-thematisches Verzeichnis sämtlicher Tonwerke Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart" is a splendid achievement, the first of its scale and standard for any composer: in the Mozart's catalogue, the initial letter of Köchel's surname have endured.
