| Cyril Scott, b.Oxton, Cheshire 27.9.1879, d. Eastbourne 31.12.1970. Scott's progressive stance gained the admiration of Debussy and of German music critics, and he was the first British composer to apply the techniques of musical impressionism in his work.Though songs and piano pieces form the bulk of his output, there are memorable symphonies and operas that merit rediscovery.
