Granville Bantock Life

Granville Bantock played an important part in the development and promotion of English music, both as a conductor and as a teacher and educational administrator.

Relatively conservative in musical language, he was attracted to the treatment of exotic subjects, Persian, Chinese, Russian and Scottish, in his works for the theatre and choral and orchestral compositions, and retains a more familiar position in the field of English song.
