Aldo Clementi

| Born Catania, 25 May 1925, Italian composer. He studied with the Schoenberg pupil Sangiorgi, with Petrassi in Rome, and a Darmstadt (1955-62), having been guided towards serialism by Maderna.In three Informels (1961-3) he began to work with tangled textures of extreme density and essential changelessness; other works include the stage pieces Blitz (1973), Collage 4 (1979) and Es (1981), all commemorating the end of music, which he sees as the art's only subject.
