Jakob Johann Froberger

Fellow student of countryman Kerll under the Italian master, Frescobaldi, Froberger served as court organist in Vienna intermittently in 1637, 1641-1645, and 1653-1657. Known primarily as a keyboard virtuoso, Froberger toured throughout Europe.

In addition to composing the usual pieces for organ and harpsichord (partitas, ricercars, canzonas, fantasias, capriccios, fugues and toccatas), Froberger developed a new genre, the harpsichord suite. - MIDI FILE - Suite in E (complete), for keyboard (4'43'') Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach named Froberger as a composer whose works his father had admired.
