Elisabetta de Gambarini Life

Elisabetta de Gambarini is thought to have been born in London on September 7, 1731 to Italian-born Charles Gambarini and his wife.

She was an organist and an orchestral cunductor, as well as a singer and a composer.

Her keyboard works include the Six Sets of Lessons for the Harpsichord, opus 1, and selections from the Lessons for the Harpsichord, Intermix’d with Italian and English Songs, opus 2.

Both of these works were published in the late 1740's.

Opus 1, c. 1748, was dedicated to the Lady Viscountess Howe of the Kingdom of Ireland.

This publication included a most dignified list of over 200 subscribers, including the Princess of Wales, G.F. Haendel, and Ambassador Solenthal of Denmark.
