| Vitézslav Novák was a fellow-student of Josef Suk in Dvorák's composition master-class at the Prague Conservatoire, where he was appointed professor in 1909. Discouraged by other teachers in Prague, he made a study of Moravian and Slovakian folk music which renewed his inspriation and strongly influenced his compositions. Novāks piano tone-poem "Pan", later orchestrated, represents the height of his powers. |
