| The French conductor and composer Manuel Rosenthal was born in Paris in 1904 and studied the violin at the Paris Conservatoire, also studying counterpoint with Jean Huré and composition with Ravel.He began an association with the Orchestre National of French Radio in 1934, serving as joint conductor and then principal conductor between 1944 and 1947. From 1948 to 1951 he conducted the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and enjoyed a busy and varied international career. His compositions include operas, ballet scores, orchestral and choral works, chamber music and songs.
