| Jean Wiener became a jazz enthusiast after his study at the Paris Conservatoire and in the 1920s formed a jazz piano duo with Clément Doucet. He was of some signifance in the promotion of new music, both by his friends of the Groupe des Six (Milhaud, Poulenc, etc.) and by composers such as Schoenberg, Berg and Webern.His compositions involve the use of jazz, encompassed with French wit and elegance.
