Born: Arnstadt,Germany, Aug 1648; died: Gehren,Germany 17 May 1694, German composer and distant relative of J.S.Bach, he was taught by his father and in 1665 became organist at Arnstadt castle.

He preceded the great J.S. Bach as town organist in Gehren.

His compositions display a bias towards choral works, his motets, in particular, being of real standing.

Works include Arias, many motets, choral concertos, over 70 organ chorales and other keyboard and instrumental works.
